About Us

Rod Williamson began his love affair with G scale model railways with his first LGB train in 1968. Since then he has been an avid collector and enthusiast. Rod’s part-time interest has developed into one of the leading professional retail and consultancy services for the design and installation of garden railways in NSW. Like many of his clients, Rod himself has a unique collection of G scale model locos and rolling stock.

For many years Rod has advised and assisted other model railway enthusiasts and helped to design layouts and suggest models suitable to their needs in both G scale and other gauges. He regularly travels the world attending conventions, researching the latest developments in garden railways and establishing a close relationship with enthusiasts and manufacturers in Europe and America. He also has a wide knowledge of available and collectable G scale models and the design of garden railways.

Today Rod’s G Scale Hobbies specialises in advising and assisting you by designing suitable layouts, providing locos, rolling stock, track and accessories and can advise you with technical issues for your own model garden railway. He has also designed and installed indoor layouts (e.g. hotels and sushi bars). His wide resources enables him to search for and locate specific products and collectable models.

G Scale Hobbies has LGB models and secondhand rolling stock, track and accessories for sale, available in News & Specials. For the serious steam enthusiast G Scale Hobbies are agents in Australia for Roundhouse Engineering’s Live Steam.

We can also supply Bachmann, Aristocraft, Accucraft, H-L-W, USATrain and Sunset Valley Railroad model trains. Complement your model railway with Pola D, Peco, Piko, Noch, and Phoenix Sound System accessories.
